Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter developed by Bungie.
Marathon is the first new game in the Marathon franchise since the original Marathon Trilogy was released in the 1990s.
An alternate reality game began in 2023 to coincide with the reveal announcement as well as the ViDoc, and continued later in 2025 to coincide with the gameplay reveal stream.

Development[edit]
Marathon was originally slated to release on September 23rd, 2025. On June 17th of the same year, Marathon was delayed indefinitely until a release date of March 2026 was announced later that year on December 15th, further said to be March 5th, 2026 in February.
Marathon was originally set to feature collectible artifact that could be added together into more complex objects. This feature was later modified into the current special event system.
