The Thief shell is rumored to have been developed specifically by Sekiguchi Genetics for the raid of Traxus, a corporate rival. After completing the job, the Runner supposedly never returned to shell, with specs dropping on the dark market a few months later. Sekiguchi was subjected to a UESC probe in late 2885 after a corresponding Traxus data breach, but the link between rumor and fact has not as yet been confirmed.[1]
Also in 2885, a Runner using a White Rabbit shell style infiltrated the High Table Gala on Luna, an event overseen by a state-of-the-art security intelligence and a full Presidential protection detail and stole seven Martian heirlooms. Seven more jobs followed over the next seven weeks. It is unknown whether the heists were completed by a single Runner or a crew using identical shell styles.[2]
The Icon personality series of Thief shells was developed by Runners using 100% aftermarket neural support tech and featuring the vocal patterns and likeness of Sekiguchi Genetics' former lead shell director, Dr. Yoki Samura.[1]
Thief models were utilized heavily during the corporate cold war on Tau Ceti IV in 2893,[3] including shells adorned with the notorious White Rabbit style. It is currently unknown if these are copycats or the same Runners from the High Table Gala heist.[2]
