Artificial intelligence, also known as manufactured intelligence, thinking systems,[1] coded sentience, intelligence systems,[2] or simply AI, are advanced computer networks capable of independent thought, reason, and emotion, that are deployed across a wide range of human society and technology. They regularly represent themselves to others through the use of digital avatars.
They are subject to a process known as rampancy, where an individual AI progresses through three distinct stages before reaching a theoretical fourth state of "metastability", which is comparable to true agency and self-awareness (sapience) in a biological being.
