Welcome to Tau Ceti [2/2] is the second priority contract of Marathon (2026), functioning as the third chapter of its story and gameplay.
Overview[edit]
Welcome to Tau Ceti [2/2] sees the player sabotaging a UESC comms antenna to destroy its jamming capability and enabling access to faster-than-light communications. After the completion of the contract, ONI reminds the Runner that they are in debt to CyberAcme for their digital immortality, and recommends contacting faction representatives to guide their exploration of Tau Ceti. The player gains access to laiason contracts.
Gameplay[edit]
Sabotage a UESC comms antenna in North or South Relay[edit]
There are 5 UESC comms antennas located at North Relay and 5 at South Relay.

Upon reaching an antenna, player is prompted:
SABOTAGE ANTENNA
After sabotaging the antenna:
✓ OBJECTIVE COMPLETE appears on-screen.
The antenna makes a loud metal squelching noise, then begins to glow red hot before exploding, damaging the player if they remain too close. Smoke continues to rise from the destroyed antenna for the duration of the match.

- ONI: "Priority contract fulfilled."
No extraction necessary.
Contract debrief[edit]
Upon completing run:
- ONI: "Reminder. Your partnership with CyberAcme Systems entitles you to a permanent backup of your consciousness, but immortality has its price. Everything that you are belongs to CyAc until such a time that management is satisfied this debt has been fully paid. Expect deductions from your account at regular intervals as part of our remittance program."
- ONI: "I strongly recommend that we establish contact with the factions on Earth and Mars who'd most benefit from the grey-area wet work that Runners like you specialize in."
- ONI: "Their individual interests will aid you in focusing your exploration of Tau Ceti."
- ONI: "Please understand that while rival factions may have competing objectives, they are ready to reward Runners who prove themselves capable, regardless of any conflicts of interest."
- ONI: "Shall we begin?"
