Lore:Jjaro

The Jjaro were an extremely advanced species that disappeared from the Milky Way galaxy millions of years before the battle of Tau Ceti.

Overview[edit]

The Jjaro possessed high-quality cyborg technology, such as that used to give the S'pht sentience,[1] a star-destroying weapon known as the trih xeem,[2] the ability to move entire planets by warping space around them, some form of time manipulation technology, and the power to imprison the W'rkncacnter.[3] [4]

It is possible that the S'pht mythical beings – Yrro and Pthia – were Jjaro.[3]

History[edit]

After their demise, much of their technology fell into the hands of the Pfhor, while the S'pht'Kr used Jjaro technology to fold Lh'owon's moon K'lia out of their home system.[1]

According to Durandal, the Nakh were the last extant client race of the Jjaro. They rebelled against the Pfhor 6,000 years before the end of Marathon 2.[2]

While it occurred long after their species supposedly disappeared from the Milky Way, the Jjaro were responsible for warning humanity (via hologram) about the sleeping god beneath a pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula in 1994. Inside the pyramid, Sergeant Eddings discovered a number of artifacts of alien — presumably Jjaro — origin, showcasing some of their technological capabilities.

After Eddings stunned the dreaming god by detonating a nuclear weapon, the Jjaro apparently visited Earth in-person to ensure it remained dormant. The artifacts Eddings obtained from the pyramid disappeared shortly after, but are presumed to have been used to accelerate humanity's technological advancement.[5]

Years later, Durandal hinted that the creation of Battleroids was enabled thanks to humanity's possession of Jjaro technology.[6]
