The astacid is a lobster-sized freshwater crayfish native to the Dire Marsh region of Tau Ceti IV. They were sometimes encountered by Runners during operations in 2893.
Biology[edit]
The crustaceans, while strikingly similar to Earth-native Astacidea, have two extra pairs of eyes, spines protruding from the ends of their coxa (first leg segment), and large, ridged dactyls on each claw, giving them a feathered appearance. The astacids were observed with blue, red, and green pigmentation.
Behavior[edit]
The crustaceans posed no threat to Runners and did not appear to view Runners as a threat.[1]
