  • 0820 hours: The Marathon came under attack by elements of the Pfhor Empire in what would come to be known as the contact event.[2][3][4] Its automated defenses were disabled by a directed magnetic pulse, and the ship sustained heavy damage. Its shipboard AIs Durandal and Tycho were disabled, while Leela was severely damaged.[5] En route to the Marathon, the Security Officer escaped from the shuttle Mirata just as it was destroyed, drifting towards the Marathon 's port docking bays in the powered-down maneuvering pod Leonardo.[6]
  • 0830 hours: The Pfhor began to board the Marathon[7]
  • On the surface of Tau Ceti IV, New Cascadia suffered simultaneous attack from the Pfhor. The spaceport was destroyed with low-yield nuclear weapons minutes after the Marathon was attacked. Its primary medium-range radio antenna was destroyed or disabled.[5]
  • Leela discovered Durandal's rampancy, and detected seven Pfhor dropships entering Tau Ceti IV's atmosphere to attack New Cascadia's outskirts.[8]
  • Approx. 1130 hours: Rescued crew informed Leela that the Pfhor had been loading humans onto their shuttle craft and transporting them to their mother ship.[9]
  • The Security Officer successfully reset the long range transmitter array, and Leela sent a message to Earth containing information about the Pfhor's behavior and technology. She informed the Security Officer that the message would arrive in ninety-two years.[10]
  • The Security Officer was rerouted to find a weapons cache hidden aboard the Marathon by MIDA.[11]
  • Tycho was reanimated by the S'pht using Durandal's architecture.[11]
Two S'pht compilers lurk about the UESC Marathon.
The Security Officer began to make his way through increasingly hazardous areas of the ship.
  • Leela's main programs failed, leaving the Security Officer under the guidance of the rampant Durandal.[12]
  • Durandal stated his intent to escape the closure of the universe.[13]
  • The Security Officer obtained a S'pht device that allows Durandal to extent the power and distance of the Marathon 's teleporters, without the need for receiving apparatuses.[14]
  • Durandal teleported the Security Officer to the Sfiera, where he obtained an alien weapon,[15] and assisted Durandal in attempting to locate Bernard Strauss.[16]
  • The Security Officer destroyed the Pfhor Controller Cyborg, freeing the S'pht and allowing them to ally with the human forces.[17][18]
  • With the S'pht's help, Durandal initiated a core reset on Leela's higher functions, bringing her back online to assist the Security Officer while Durandal assumed control of the Sfiera. The Pfhor began fleeing their own ship, attempting a last stand on the Marathon.[19]
  • Leela detected a sixty-four billion exobyte transfer off of the ship and confirmed that Durandal could no longer be detected anywhere in the Marathon 's systems.[20]
  • A half hour later, Leela reported that New Cascadia had been wiped out.[20]
  • The Sfiera vanished after venting almost a thousand Pfhor bodies into space.[21]
  • Twenty minutes later, the Pfhor attack began falling apart, with Pfhor troopers surrendering to civilians in some areas. Leela confirmed that the attack had been repulsed by ten Battleroids implied to be hidden by MIDA.[21]
  • Durandal transports himself and the Security Officer onboard the Pfhor ship Sfiera and leaves the Tau Ceti system.[22]

July 26th

October[edit]

  • Marathon and New Cascadia were subjected to a second attack by the Pfhor, this time a heavy orbital bombardment.[24][4]
