Operational headquarters for local colony development
Outpost stations were mobile headquarters capable of deploying from the UESC Marathon to the surface of a planet. Many were deployed to designated colony sites on Tau Ceti IV.

Outpost stations deployed from orbit in a folded, "teardrop" shape. Upon reaching a planet's surface, their three arms unfolded into a Pinwheel structure, converting the ship into functional planetside headquarters.[1]

During the UESC Marathon's first wave of colonization, three outpost stations were deployed to Tau Ceti IV's surface.[2]
In 2893, one outpost station was the center of significant Runner activity.
