In Marathon, items are categorized into rarity tiers and may also have special oddities that affect value, behavior, and gameplay effects.

Rarity tiers[edit]

Tier Description Value
Contraband Extremely exclusive high-value items, usually found in Lockdowns and Cryo Archive. Credits 1,000 to Credits 40,000
Prestige Extremely rare items found scarcely across Zones Credits 3,200 to Credits 12,000
Superior Very rare items found scarcely across Zones, in Containers such as Wall safes and Supply drones Credits 1,000 to Credits 4,000
Deluxe Rare items found occasionally across Zones Credits 300 to Credits 1,100
Enhanced Uncommon items found commonly < Credits 1,000
Standard Common items with little to no credit value < Credits 500

Item oddities[edit]

Item oddities can affect a weapon or item's value, rewards, stats, and modifications. They may also change how the item behaves, potentially altering its form factor or turning it into scrap.
