Our Discord server allows wiki users to communicate with each other via instant messaging and voice chat. A registered nickname is required to access the server.
Joining the server[edit]
- Download and install Discord (optional)
- 'Click "Connect" to the right or click here.
- Follow all on-screen instructions:
- If you are new to Discord, you will be prompted to create a username with an email address and password.
- If you are a returning user, click "accept invite."
Rules[edit]
Moderators use their own discretion when applying these rules, and understanding of the rules depends on moderator conception of the rules, and particular exceptions may be granted by specific moderator approval. These rules and regulations, however, should be followed strictly by users. Any breach of these rules and regulations may lead to punishment by server staff.
Upon joining the server, it is expected that all users have reviewed the rules and understand the consequences for breaking them.
Nickname[edit]
Users are required to use their wiki username or a variation thereof. Anyone attempting to impersonate another will be promptly kicked and if they continue, will be subsequently banned. This rule does not apply to users without a wiki account.
Bots[edit]
The only bots allowed on the server will be those controlled or approved by administrators. Any unapproved bot on the channel will be immediately banned and depending on the circumstance, the user may be punished on the wiki.
Rules[edit]
General guideline: Please be civil and courteous. Treat others in a way you'd like to be treated, or the way they request to be treated!
- Personal attacks/Harassment (esp. racism, homophobia, sexism, sexual harassment, etc.) will not be tolerated.
- Profanity is allowed, so long as it is not excessive nor directed at any user.
- Toxicity (defined as extremely negative and/or aggressive messaging) is highly discouraged. These remarks do not need to be directed at any individual to be considered toxic; unpleasant messages drive people to stop engaging with our community, and we do not want that kind of reputation.
- Sexual content, such as pornography, explicit discussions of sexual acts, or innuendos made with ill intent are not permitted at all.
- Violation of personal privacy is not permitted. Doxing (i.e. revealing personal information about users such as real names, locations, ages, genders, etc.), violating confidentiality on particular issues (such as issues asked to be kept confidential by other users or administrators), or generally harassing people for personal information is prohibited.
- Linking to external sources, such as websites, which violate the aforementioned rules, is also not permitted. Notably, publicly linking to websites such as Facebook or MySpace that violate personal privacy, is not permitted without prior consent from the user whose privacy will be violated.
- Posting invite links to other Discord servers is not permitted.
- Trolling or general irritation or disruption of other users is not permitted. This often includes, but is not limited to; excessive usage of capital letters, punctuation marks, and deliberate or in-deliberate distortions of the English language (such as "133t speak").
- Spamming is considered the posting of unneeded, repetitive, or meaningless links, images, comments, or anything else. Spam may take up one or more lines; it is at the discretion of the moderator or administrator to deem what is spam.
- Language - This is an English-language server, individuals are expected to use English while talking on the channel. Other languages are permitted, but at the end of the day we all need to be able to communicate with one another.
- Controversial topics, like politics, religion, illegal activities, and etc., should not be discussed
- Discord =/= wiki: An individuals' actions on the wiki do not affect the individuals' rights/status in the server, and vice versa. If the actions are taken into the wiki, wiki policy will still follow.
- NO FANON! This is a wiki, we are dedicated to the official canon of Bungie's Marathon universe. Fan fiction/fanon should be taken to other online communities.
These rules are subject to additions and/or changes at any time.
Admins and Moderators have wide discretion relating to the enforcement of these rules. The content of messages will greatly impact the severity of the response. In certain cases, there may be exceptions.
Consequences[edit]
Typically, the following hierarchy will apply to infringements on the above regulations (with the exception of specifically implied consequences).
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: Kick
- Third offense: One week ban
- Continued offenses: Permanent ban
Extreme violations of server rules may result in an immediate and permanent ban.
Appealing[edit]
Users may appeal moderator decisions at any time. Generally appeals should follow the below steps:
- First off, through private message or wiki means, appeal the ban to the moderator in question.
- If you disagree with the moderator's decision, appeal the decision to another admin listed here.
- If you disagree with the decision of the neutral admin, appeal to a bureacrat, who will make the final decision at his discretion or discuss with the other admins present.
If you appeal in a manner that's considered confrontational, antagonistic, uncivil, or malicious, the appeal will be ignored.
